Today my client said she was going to clean the bottles then head to bed. I spoke right up saying that I would get the bottles and for her to go for her nap. When you have a postpartum client, they are most likely exhausted. Let them nap while you clean the home; Not deep clean but light housework. In the few hours she slept today, I washed dirty dishes, washed bottles, sanitized, and put back together the bottles, wiped down counters and any drips on cabinets I saw, picked up burp cloths and baby items, swept, fed and changed baby, had tummy time, and hung out with baby. Your partner needs alone time. This is my biggest recommendation. Mama just had a baby, isn’t sleeping much, her body is healing, hormones are all over the place, and she needs some alone time - even if she says she is fine. Make her take time for herself! If you are home, once a day let mom go shower, get a manicure, take a nap, or get out of the house. If you aren’t home, at least once a week let mom have time for herself. She will be more energized, happier, and feel refreshed.
