The Beauty of Unassisted Home Births: Jemila’s Story and Advice

by | Birth, guest post

Today, we have a woman that was not happy with her birth experience in the hospital eight years ago. She decided when she had other children that she would birth at home and only with the presence of her partner and doula.

Jemila from Sol Child Essentials is our guest speaker today. I had the privilege of interviewing Jemila about her two unassisted home births. She tells her story of both home births and gives some great advice.

Below, I am chatting about some insights that Jemila talked about but if you want to get the real scoop, head to the bottom and click on the video.

Preparing Your Sanctuary:

Consider creating a cozy birthing space at home. Think birthing tubs, soft lighting, and maybe even some calming music. Cover the floor with tarps or shower curtains – because, let’s be real, birth can get a bit messy, and that’s totally okay!

If you’re feeling adventurous, Jemila suggests exploring the idea of a lotus birth. Gather the supplies you’ll need for this beautiful practice, where the baby remains attached to the placenta until the cord naturally detaches. It’s all about embracing the unique journey in your own way.

The Power of Support:

Having the right support is like having a safety net woven with love. Consider having a doula, your partner, or supportive family members by your side. Surrounding yourself with positive energy is key, as Jemila wisely points out. Negativity has no place in your sacred birthing space.

Jemila’s Take on Visualization:

Our guide, Jemila, swears by the magic of visualization. Close your eyes, mama, and envision your baby’s journey into the world. It’s not just about the physical aspect; it’s about easing into the process with a calm and focused mind. Your mind is a powerful tool – use it to manifest the serene birth you desire.

Relax and Enjoy the Ride:

This isn’t a checklist; it’s an exploration of the beautiful, unpredictable journey that is childbirth. Embrace the unknown, let go of expectations, and trust in your body’s wisdom. Jemila encourages us to approach this experience with relaxation and a personalized touch – because, after all, it’s your story to tell. There are no monitors attached to you, no PICC line, no being told to lay a certain way to push. This is your birth; the exact way you want it.

Watch Jemila’s Insightful Video:

These were just a few tips from the interview. In the video Jemila dives even deeper into the magical world of unassisted home births, offering more nuggets of wisdom and personal moments. It’s like having a virtual chat with a friend who’s been there and done that; enjoy!
